March 9: Build your own Floating Shelves (women/trans/nb only)
March 9: Build your own Floating Shelves (women/trans/nb only)
Saturday March 9, 10am-4pm in downtown Marshall, NC
In this woodworking class, you will learn how to make your own floating shelves in a safe, supportive, and nourishing environment. This class is offered specifically for women, trans, and nonbinary folks. We will support each other in learning new skills, stepping into our power, and forming creative community! You will get to choose from a variety of local live edge slabs, and from there I will walk you through the process of designing, cutting, sanding, sculpting, and oiling your board with an organic beeswax finish. Each student will be able to make up to 2 shelves, and basic metal hardware is included for hanging them.
This workshop involves the use of heavy-duty machinery, so participants must be attentive and willing to follow instructions. Beginners welcome - no prior shop experience is needed.
You will leave the class with your very own handmade floating shelves, as well as experience using a variety of basic woodworking tools!
